Animal Welfare Policy

Our Commitment

We are committed to responsible retail that respects animals, people, and the environment. Across our fashion and homeware collections, we work to ensure that any animal-derived materials are sourced ethically, transparently, and in line with high welfare standards.

Our goal is simple: no unnecessary harm, clear information for our customers, and continuous improvement across our supply chain.

What This Means in Practice

Ethical Sourcing

We only work with suppliers who meet strict expectations for animal welfare. This includes:

  • Humane treatment of animals throughout their lives

  • Responsible farming and husbandry practices

  • Full traceability of animal-derived materials where possible

No to Cruelty

We do not support:

  • Fur farming or products made from fur

  • Materials from endangered or protected species

  • Practices such as live-plucking or inhumane slaughter

  • Products linked to illegal wildlife trade or exploitation

Responsible Materials (Fashion & Homeware)

Where animal-derived materials are used (e.g., wool, leather, down), we expect:

  • Wool sourced without mulesing

  • Down and feathers from non-live-plucked sources

  • Leather sourced as a by-product of the food industry

  • Preference for certified or recycled alternatives where available

We actively increase our use of alternatives such as recycled fibres, plant-based materials, and synthetic substitutes.

Cruelty-Free Approach

We prioritise products that are cruelty-free. For relevant categories (e.g., home fragrances, textiles treatments):

  • We avoid animal testing wherever possible

  • We support suppliers using alternative testing methods

Transparency for Our Customers

We believe you should know what you’re buying. That’s why we aim to:

  • Clearly label products (e.g., vegan, cruelty-free where applicable)

  • Share information about material sourcing

  • Avoid misleading claims about sustainability or animal welfare

Working With Suppliers

All of our suppliers are expected to:

  • Meet our animal welfare standards

  • Comply with all relevant laws and regulations

  • Provide evidence of ethical sourcing when requested

We carry out risk-based checks and will take action if standards are not met, including removing products or ending supplier relationships.

UK Legal Alignment

We align our approach with key UK legislation and guidance, including:

  • The Animal Welfare Act 2006, which sets standards for the humane treatment of animals

  • The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, protecting wild animals and habitats

  • The Fur Farming (Prohibition) Act 2000, which bans fur farming in the UK

  • Relevant import/export controls under CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species)

All suppliers must comply with applicable UK laws where products are sold into the UK market.

Reporting Concerns

If you have any concerns about a product or our practices, we encourage you to get in touch via our customer support channels. We take all concerns seriously and investigate them thoroughly.

Continuous Improvement

We know this is an ongoing journey. We regularly review our practices, work with suppliers to raise standards, and explore better alternatives to animal-derived materials. We are committed to making responsible choices easier—for you and for the animals affected by what we sell.
